Heating Up Celebrity Homes
Household ‘fashionistas’ will agree that central heating is out and underfloor heating is in! It would appear that many A-list celebs have opted for floor heating rather than traditional radiators, because of their low running cost and energy efficiency. These are also cheaper and easier to install, with the guarantee of low maintenance unlike normal heating systems.
Celebrities such as Madonna chose to switch to underfloor heating in January of this year. Sources of the Daily Mail have revealed that the superstar pop-queen is also particular about residing in hotels without floor heating, which may mean that her reasons are health and beauty related.
The list continues stretching as far as Joan Collins and Reese Witherspoon who have been reported to favour underfloor heating over normal central heating, which is why the Macdonald Spa Hotel in Bath is their top choice of residency.
Other celebrities include Kylie Minogue, who after returning to full health refurbished her home installing an underfloor heating system costing approximately £5,000. Sharon Osbourne kept her lovable pet dog in the loop of sharing the luxury and installing floor heating systems so it too can live in comfort. However, this is not the first case of having this type of heating system for pets.
Fashion advisor and designer, Trinny Woodhall, lent a hand in redesigning the Dogs Trust West London in Harefield, giving her expert advice for including glass fronted kennels and installing floor heating for the pets. Heated mats are also placed under walk paths giving them comfort and benefit of enjoying constant warmth from the ground up.
However, this luxurious heating system is not exclusive to the celebrity world as it is now cheaper to install into one’s home and requires less time to place under the floorboards than it would if you were to mount radiators up against the walls. Furthermore, they make for a more aesthetically appealing household system and do not take up any space. These are a greener alternative as they do not need to be set on a high temperature and heat up rooms evenly without wasting heat energy.
